Position Title                      : Senior Planning Engineer

Work Location                    : Riyadh/KSA PMC Central PMT Office

Supervision                         : Planning Engineer

Reports to                          : Contracts Manager


  • Review Project Contractors’ schedules (including resource loaded schedules) and monitor planning, scheduling, and reporting activities by Project Contractors (Detailed Design Consultants and Construction Contractors).
  • Develop the Project WBS and weighting structure as a basis for Contractors’ planning and scheduling activities and subsequently the establishment of the integrated Detailed Project Schedule.
  • Develop resource loaded benchmark plans and schedules, as required from time to time, with input from PMC management team and lead discipline engineers and with due consideration to the needs and requirements of the Client/Project.
  • Prepares and manages the overall master Project schedule; Coordinate and integrate schedules from multiple Contractors; Ensures Client information is integrated into the overall Project master schedules.
  • Highlight planning and schedule related problem areas and recommending on remedial actions; resolve planning and schedule problems during Project front end loading and during execution.
  • Review Contractors’ work schedules and planning deliverables; Monitor timely updating of all detailed Project schedules by Project Contractors based on structured Project information gathering.
  • Participate in weekly progress review meetings to monitor trends in the schedule implementation and work progress, to identify bottlenecks and delays and anticipate future activities to be completed.
  • Highlight/report on planning, schedule and progress related problem areas and recommend on remedial actions.
  • Evaluate critical paths in the Project schedules and develop recommendations.
  • Participate in Risk, opportunity and lessons learnt workshops.
  • Report on value of work done calculations based on physical progress measurements verified by the PMC team members which shall be an input for (1) PMC’s regular reporting, (2) as an input to budget and control function for the cost forecasting and (3) for certification of progress/payment applications received from Project Contractors and the issuing of written recommendations to the Client regarding the completeness of the work performed and possibility of approving interim payments under the respective Contract.

Job requirements

Competency requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience in international PMC contracts for projects with similar scope and complexity in general and with regards to PMC role in the Project in particular.
  • Hands-on planning and scheduling, progress monitoring and reporting experience.
  • Familiar with the planning aspects of the facility type.
  • Good understanding of project requirements as a basis for monitoring and reporting on Project Contractor’s schedule and cost performance.
  • Ability to break down complex data sets into simplified structures.
  • Create a schedule awareness atmosphere among all Project participants.
  • Good understanding of logical design and construction sequences
  • Able to guide less experienced planning engineer.
  • Good knowledge of computer-based systems including Microsoft Office applications and planning tools like Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
  • In-depth hands-on experiences regarding Project reporting.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, management or similar field is minimum requirement; Master's degree and/or professional accreditation from PMI kind of project management associations preferred.

Language skills: English is mandatory.

Professional experience: Min 15 years of hands-on planning, scheduling, and schedule control experience.
