Position Title: Senior Landscape Architect
Work Location/Term: Riyadh, KSA / Full-time
Supervision: Design Review, Supervision, Site Management
In Absence Replaced By: Project Manager / Landscape Architect
Reports to: Construction Director
Responsibilities:
- Landscape Design Leadership: Lead the development of detailed landscape designs, ensuring they meet the project’s aesthetic, functional, and environmental requirements. Provide expert guidance on the selection of materials, plant species, and other landscape elements to create sustainable and visually appealing environments.
- Site Supervision and Project Management: Oversee the implementation of landscape designs on-site, ensuring all work is carried out according to approved plans, within budget, and on schedule. Manage all landscape-related activities throughout the construction phase, from initial grading to final planting.
- Coordination with Multidisciplinary Teams: Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, MEP engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure the seamless integration of landscape elements with the overall infrastructure. Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination to avoid conflicts and ensure a cohesive design approach.
- Quality Control and Compliance: Implement and enforce rigorous quality control procedures for all landscape installations, including hardscapes, softscapes, and irrigation systems. Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations, safety standards, and best practices in landscape architecture.
- Client Liaison and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for all landscape architecture-related matters, providing clear communication with the client and addressing any concerns or requests. Attend regular meetings with the client and other stakeholders to discuss progress and resolve issues.
- Technical Issue Resolution: Address and resolve any technical issues related to landscape architecture that arise during the design or construction phases, coordinating with the design and construction teams to implement effective solutions.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all landscape architecture activities, including design documentation, progress reports, and quality control records. Ensure all necessary documentation is complete and available for project closeout and handover.
- Mentorship and Team Leadership: Mentor and supervise a team of landscape architects, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of landscape designs. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Job requirements
Competency Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Senior Landscape Architect in large-scale infrastructure or landscape projects, particularly within the context of international PMC contracts.
- Extensive hands-on experience in landscape design, site supervision, and quality control processes, with a strong emphasis on sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
- Strong understanding of landscape architecture principles, plant selection, irrigation systems, and their integration into complex infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of local environmental regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices in landscape architecture.
- Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp) and project management tools, with a systematic approach to managing landscape projects.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education:
- For BSc Holders: Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field from a recognized university, with over 15 years of relevant experience.
- For MSc Holders: Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field from a recognized university, with over 12 years of relevant experience.
- Professional Membership: Membership in a recognized chartered institution related to landscape architecture (e.g., ASLA, LI, or equivalent).
- Language Skills: English is mandatory.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in landscape architecture, depending on educational background, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Other Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal & written) to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a systematic approach to project management, ensuring efficient and effective execution of all landscape architecture tasks.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining the highest quality and sustainability standards in landscape design and implementation.
- Leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative work environment.
